Prof. Theodoros Xanthos
Theodoros Xanthos: Prof. Theodoros Xanthos is a
Professor of Physiology and Pathophysiology of the School of Medicine
(Department of Medicine). Theodoros
Xanthos has published extensively in medical
education and specifically in retention rates following various
interventions in simulated and hospital settings. He has published
extensively in assessment of students and in Medical Education Theories. He
has more than 245 published papers listed in PubMed with a total impact
factor of more than 830, total citations more than 7600 and h index of 38.
He holds a Post-graduate certificate and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Medical
Education (University of Cardiff) and a MRes in Higher Education. He is also
an accredited European Resuscitation Council Educator. He is a Fellow of the
Academy of Medical Educators and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His other areas of expertise is experimental and translational research on
emergency cardiology and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and as a result he
is also a Fellow of the Academy of Translational Medicine. Professor Xanthos
is the President of the Hellenic Society of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
and the President of the Cyprus National Committee on Animal Use for
Experimental Purposes. In addition to the previous mentioned Fellowships, he
is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a Fellow of the American
College of Clinical Pharmacology, a Fellow of the European Resuscitation
Council and a European
Registered Toxicologist. His publication list can

Theodoros Xanthos is an Academic Editor for 20 International Peer-Reviewed
Journals, a peer-reviewer in 45 international journals. He has received
several awards for teaching excellency, and he is one of the first people
who incorporated simulation into their teaching modalities. He is an
Advanced Life Support Course Director, A Newborn Life Support Course
Director, A Generic Instructor Course Director and an Advanced Medical Life
Support Director. He holds the organizational rights for all European
Resuscitation Council Courses in Greece. He also initiated collaboration of
the European University Cyprus with the International Network for Health
Workforce Education which culminated in the organization of the 2nd
International Congress of Health Workforce Education and Research
